Board
CUPERTINO, California-October 15, 1993-Apple Computer, Inc. today
announced that John Sculley has resigned his position as chairman of
the company's board. In doing so, Sculley ends his employment at the

A.C. (Mike) Markkula has been elected Apple's new chairman of the

"For the past ten years, John Sculley has had one of the most
compelling and articulate visions of how computing technology can
improve the lives of people everywhere," Markkula said. "We are lucky
to have had him leading the company during this time of incredible
growth and expansion."
"John Sculley took Apple from a $600 million company to an $8 billion

intelligence, vision, and a profound understanding of the incredible
potential of high technology."
"I've had some wonderful years at Pepsi, an extraordinary journey at
Apple, and now I am ready to head off to new challenges," Sculley
said. "I'm tremendously grateful for the support of so many
phenomenal Apple people. I wish everyone involved with Apple great
success in the years ahead. I'll be out there cheering you all on."
